SPOKE THE HUB DANCING, INC., one of Brooklyn’s oldest and finest new dance and community arts organizations, is now accepting SPACE RESIDENCY applications from adult professional performing artists of all ages and in all stages of their careers who are in need of rehearsal space to create brand new work, or to further refine or revisit older work.

Two artists each season will receive 10 hours of free rehearsal space a week for three months at Spoke the Hub’s newest studio in the Gowanus Arts Annex, located at 298 Butler Street, in Brooklyn.  Rehearsal hours for Fall, Winter and Spring residences must be booked on weekdays before 3:00 or after 9:30pm (other times may also be available during the week when booked on a last minute basis.) Rehearsal hours for Summer residencies only will be available for bookings after 6:00pm on weekdays and anytime on weekends in July and August.
ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION GUIDELINES:

Professional artists, ages 21 and up,  of all ages and stages of their careers, are eligible to apply.
A panel of 4-6 performance professionals will be assembled to select one “emerging” to “mid-career”
artist (aged 21- 49) and one well-seasoned “mentor” (aged 50-100+) per residency per season.

Selection criteria for both artists will be based on originality, inventiveness,
courage and potential contribution to expanding the field.

Artists will submit an online written proposal of what they would like to accomplish during their residency,
a one page resume or bio, and three recent work sample links (including one complete work and
two other representative work samples) along with performance details (date, venue, work title, artists involved,
running time.)  Please do not send reviews or other promotional support materials.
Please specify which residency period you are applying for (or let us know if you would like to
be considered for all seasons).  Brooklyn-based performance artists preferred.
