STH Young Artists SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships & Workstudy

A limited number of full and partial scholarships, based on merit and need, are available to students between the ages of 8 and 16 for the academic year. Students must audition to be consider for this program. There are also scholarships available for students between the ages of 7 and 12 for summer study in our Multi-Arts Summer Camps as well as Multi-Arts Holiday Camp weeks.

All applicants MUST complete the application forms below AND submit their most recent tax returns to the address listed on the application. Applications without financial documentation will not be considered.

Holiday Camps

Scholarships are available for select Multi-Arts Holiday Camp weeks:

Students are expected to attend camp Monday-Friday 9:30am-5:00pm for each week that they are attending.

Camp Gowanee – Summer

Scholarships are available for select Summer Camp Gowanee weeks. Students are expected to attend camp Monday-Friday 9:30am-5:00pm for each week that they are attending.

A limited number of older youth (ages 13-15) are also welcome to attend camps at half-price to serve as Junior Counselors and Teaching Assistants.

Youth Dance Scholarships & STH Young Artists Dance/Theater (ages 8-16): 

A limited number of full and partial scholarships, based on merit and need, are available to students between the ages of 8-16 for the academic year.

Auditions are held in-class at STH throughout the first week of the fall semester. All applicants must fill out scholarship application forms and parents must submit most recent tax returns prior to attending audition classes(space permitting). The teacher and a staff member will discuss the suitability of the student for that class after the class and make recommendations and awards at the end of the week.

Work/Study Program For Teens and Adults

Generally speaking, Spoke the Hub exchanges one hour of class time for one hour of work with adults.

For teens, the work/study rate is two hours of work for every class. Call to discuss further details of exchange. Work/study possibilities include:

  • Program Advertising: soliciting/collecting ads and payment from area merchants
  • Flyer Posting and Distribution: getting the word out on the streets on upcoming classes, performances and special events
  • Helping at Performances and Special Events: doing box office, making and selling refreshments, setting up and cleaning up before and after performances or events.

Barter

If you are a skilled professional who can offer a specialized service which Spoke the Hub needs, give us a written estimate for your services, and we will balance class, performance, space rental and/or special events fees against your invoice. Skilled help we often need includes:

  • Walking kids from neighborhood schools to classes afterschool
  • Carpentry and Construction
  • Cleaning
  • Computer Graphics – flyers, schedules, newsletters, special projects
  • Computer / Tech Support
  • Grant Writing and Development
  • Lighting & Sound / Tech Support
  • Photography/Videography Documentation and Editing
  • Press and Publicity
  • Sewing
