Please join us on the sidewalk at Gowanus Arts, 295 Douglass Street, Brooklyn, at 5:00pm this coming Sunday, November 11 where the re-scheduled dedication ceremony of “Our Lady of the Perpetual Gowanus” mosaic/planter will take place. This whimsical mosaic will house a living garden “memorial” in honor of STH’s good friend, dancer and physical therapist, the late Alison Stevens. After the dedication, feel free to join us for a drink and burger at the Sheep Station Pub.

Thanks go to Femi Agana, William Renfrow, and Claire Weissberg of Claireware Pottery for helping to finish the mosaic, now officially tiled, grouted and sealed for winter.  Also, a huge thanks to Betsy Howard for coming and tilling the soil with fresh compost this last weekend and offering her gardening expertise, and to Gabriella Dennery and Carolyn Abedor for supplying the first iris bulbs to go into this hallowed ground. Thanks also go to Josh Gray and Summer Camp Gowanee youngsters Alyssa Abed, Anoushka Aurora, Tomas Bogoslaw, Anayi & Kayenne Charles-Pierre, Aliza Kleinberg, Maduca Kubo, Maeve O’Donnell, Wyatt Rexer, and Aliyah & Genie Verdiner for kicking  this mosaic project off during STREET ART CAMP with Elise Long in August.

And all the ladies, may need to do a quick shop upstairs at Gowanus in the closing hours of our “EDITH’S CLOSET Vintage Clothing and Accessories Sale” going on at the same day as the dedication.  Here, you will definitley find some fashion-forward-by-looking-backward fashion treasures from a very stylish Brooklynite.  EDITH’S CLOSET SALE  will help Spoke the Hub raise much needed funds for our ongoing community arts programs for all ages.
