ABOUT GOWANATHON 2012
If you are an artist, a teacher, a not-for-profit organization, or community group that provides a service to the general public and helps improve the quality of life for our Brooklyn community, join us for GOWANATHON 2, a collaborative fundraising arts marathon. We’ll support you with raising money for your projects, while helping Spoke continue to improve its community arts facilities. GOWANATHON 1 raised $18,000, allowing us to install a much needed HVAC system. This year, we are spearheading a collaborative fundraising event which benefits us all.
HERE’S THE DEAL
Spoke will:
Provide you with 1- 2 hours of free space in one of our Gowanus studios for a fundraising event of your own design.
If your presentation is shorter, we will schedule a shared hour or two(several artists get to share their gift & raise funds).
Provide technical & administrative support.
Design & print a promotional poster and postcards for the festivities
Provide general event promotion.
AND Spoke will create a website where your donors can make online pledges to your group or project, whether they attend GOWANATHON 2 or not.
In return, Spoke splits your event’s proceeds with you 50/50. So, for example, if you do an 1-2 hour performance, charge $25 a head and fill the house (aprox. 100 capacity), you go home with at least $1,250 in your pocket, plus your share of online donations.
Your event could also be… a workshop, an art exhibit, an educational event, a work- in- progress, an information session, a solicitation of online donations and a thank you party for donors, a wine & cheese, or any other wonderful creative showing. It’s up to you. We look forward to receiving your creative ideas!
