These transformative sensory classes explore the potential inherent in a variety of natural movement patterns. Lessons are verbally guided where students move gently and pleasurably at their own pace. Curiosity is a key motivator and novelty, a common ingredient. Students develop an expanded sense of self, and ease of movement overall. The classes are geared for adults of any age. Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement is beneficial for anyone wanting to improve functionality, including those interested in:
• Relieving back pain.
• Injury rehabilitation and prevention.
• Improving the range and quality of everyday movement.
• Enhancing their athletic, artistic and body mind practices
• Learning /Re-learning and the neuroplasticity of the brain.
• Converting Stress and Anxiety into vitality.
Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Sc. (1904-1984) was a Russian-born Israeli. He was an internationally known physicist, mechanical engineer, and judo master. The method emerged from Feldenkrais’ own knee injury when he began a life long investigation into—and intense study of—human movement and behavior. He developed a method of using gentle movements to enhance awareness, fluidity, and communication between muscles and the central nervous system. “Moshe was one of the first neuroplasticians.” Dr. Norman Doidge, The Brain’s Way of Healing (2015).
“Making the impossible possible, the possible easy and the easy elegant” – Moshe Feldenkrais
“Feldenkrais work is the most sophisticated and effective method I have seen for the prevention and reversal of loss of function.”
– Margaret Mead, Anthropologist
