“Tiny Pots” by Bonnie Levine — $16
“Tiny Pots” by Bonnie Levine
One of a kind, ceramic mini-vessels that hold beauty and space. Each pot is handmade and thrown on a pottery wheel, and is about 2-3 inches in height. Some enjoy placing a single flower in the vessel, others put their favorite oil inside. And more, place the pot in a special spot that when seen, makes one smile.
$16
Bonnie Levine is a clay artist and educator.
Her work is made intuitively by bringing to life the internal landscape: making the invisible visible. The mood of the moment, the plasticity of the clay, the moisture in the air and other variables converge to produce pieces that reference the natural world and which embody the human form. Throwing lines, finger marks, and dents are celebrated and integrated into the design. The relationship between the form and negative space is an important aspect of the work.
Experimenting with various clay bodies and firing methods have been an integral part of the process, expanding the vision. The distinct and often subtle quality of the surface holds the energy of the complex interactions of the process.
Over the course of 25 years, Bonnie has made thousands of mini-vessels. They are treasured and loved by many.

“The land upon which we gather is part of the traditional territory of the Lenni-Lenape, called “Lenapehoking.” The Lenape People lived in harmony with one another upon this territory for thousands of years. During the colonial era and early federal period, many were removed west and north, but some also remain among the continuing historical tribal communities of the region: The Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Tribal Nation; the Ramapough Lenape Nation; and the Powhatan Renape Nation, The Nanticoke of Millsboro Delaware, and the Lenape of Cheswold Delaware. We acknowledge the Lenni-Lenape as the original people of this land and their continuing relationship with their territory. In our acknowledgment of the continued presence of Lenape people in their homeland, we affirm the aspiration of the great Lenape Chief Tamanend, that there be harmony between the indigenous people of this land and the descendants of the immigrants to this land, “as long as the rivers and creeks flow, and the sun, moon, and stars shine.”
Note: It is said, in antediluvian times, pre-dating the Lenni-Lenape peoples who made their homes along the banks of the Gowanee Creek (now known as the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn), there was rumored to be a tribe – perhaps only mythical? – of industrious and inventive nomads we will, for our particular purposes, refer to as “Native Gowanians” going forward to avoid confusion.
