Spoke the Hub invites all artists, independent teaching artists, families, visitors and other community members to use our two studios as a gathering place for all your creative, educational, presentational, social and celebratory needs. Make Spoke the Hub your home-away-from-home when you need “just a little more space” to move, teach, party, create and share without breaking a lamp or upsetting your neighbors! Our doors are open and the welcome mat is out.

UPSTAIRS STUDIO

RENTAL RATES
Multiple Classes, Workshops & Rehearsals
- Rehearsals: $20/hour (no more than 10 participants)
- Teaching: $50/hour (no more than 15 students)
- Private Lessons: $25/hour (Downstairs Studio only)
One Shot Classes, Workshops & Rehearsals
- One-shot Group Workshops or Classes: $100/hour (no more than 15 participants)
- One-shot Private Lessons (Downstairs Studio only): $50/hour
- One-shot Rehearsals (2 hour minimum): $40/hour (no more than 10 participants)
Special Rehearsal Discount For Returning Dancers
25 hours for $250 if space booked Monday through Thursday from 8:00am and 3:00pm or Sunday night from 6:00pm and 10:00pm.
Last Minute Booking Discount for Returning Dancers
Request booking 24 hours in advance: $15/hour
Video & Photography Shoots: (no more than 10 people): $125/hour

Spoke the Hub offers our intimate and welcoming WHEELHOUSE THEATRE space to artists and groups who would like to produce their own public event without going bankrupt -and maybe even make a few bucks to help defray their production costs? Renter sets their own admission price and keeps all box office, donation, and refreshment receipts.
PACKAGE INCLUDES:
- ADA compliant ground floor foyer, dedicated audience restroom, kitchenette and performance space from 6-10:00pm on Saturday evening
- 1 STH representative to lock/unlock the space, answer questions and supervise set-up and clean-up
- Separate downstairs warm-up studio/changing area and dedicated restroom for performers only
- Tech/Run though before show from 6-7:30pm
- Apr. 16 wide x 20-25’ performance area plus riser seating with flexible floor seating area and folding chairs plus stools for approximately 40-50 guests (depending on performance area and audience seating set up).
- Basic house lighting plot and sound/light board operator
- Sound system to play recorded music
- Large 55” TV monitor for film or video projections (HDMI portal provided) must supply own laptop
- Foyer and kitchenette plus separate rest rooms for guests and performers
- Announcements in STH’s monthly e-newsletter and presence on indoor and outdoor displays
- Additional 3 hour performance event(s) on same weekend: $600 per event ($500 for STH Veteran Performers)
Artist/Group Is Responsible For:
- Publicity & Marketing – STH must review and approve all copy before publishing online or printing
- Additional stage crew and front of house personnel
- Box office (artist keeps all receipts)
- Laptop to run their own video or film from (HDMI portal)
- Videographer and photographer
- Artists fees
- Refreshments (artists keeps all receipts)
Additional Expenses
- Spoke can provide online ticket sales and donation collection option for $100 per weekend production
- Spoke can provide photographer @ $100 per show
- Spoke can provide addition crew @ $100 per person per show
- Additional hours for cast party or reception after the show @ $100/hour
- Additional pre-performance rehearsal space if available @ $20/hour
- Additional tech/dress rehearsal Friday night @ $45/hour
- Additional lighting, sound, or other tech equipment
- Custom tailored lighting design
Bare Bones Showings: $150/hour
STH Provides:

- Possible work/exchange options available to dancers to help cover some ADDITIONAL EXPENSES if needed – please contact STH to discuss. Any work/exchange arrangement must be completed before the booked event.
Artist/Group Is responsible for:
- Publicity & Marketing – STH must review and approve all copy before publishing online or printing
- Providing people to set-up and strike the performance space and audience seating, pre and post showing
- Personnel to manage box office, refreshments, and to run event’s sound and lights
- Ticket sales and box office
- Videographer and photographer
- Artists fees
- Refreshments
Additional Expenses
- Separate downstairs warm-up studio/changing area and dedicated restroom for performers only @ $50/hour

Birthday Parties & Other Celebrations
Adult Parties, Receptions, Fundraising Events, etc (no children): $1,000
5 hours (must include set-up and clean-up time)
Additional hours: $100 per hour or part of hour
Capacity: 50 Guests
STH Provides:
- 1 STH representative to lock/unlock the space, supervise the door, answer questions
- Up to 20 guests (add $125 for additional STH rep if expecting more than 20 guests)
- Ground floor studio, foyer space with kitchenette, sink, fridge, electric teapot and bar counter
- 1 Restroom
- 2 Coat “closets” and umbrella bin in entry hall
- Assorted folding tables, up to 50 metal folding chairs (black and off white) and misc. stools
- Sound system to plug in digital devices or bluetooth
- Basic party and mood lighting (house plot)
Space Renter Is Responsible For:
- Set-up and clean-up of space plus helpers (add $200 if you wish STH to do entire clean-up and space re-set)
- Decorations
- Refreshments, ice, tablecloths, dishes, cutlery and handlers for food and drink
- Bagging, sorting and recycling trash, etc.
- Photography & Videography
- Insuring STH guests follow all house rules (ie no smoking of any kind anywhere on property and monitoring that people do not drink to excess if alcohol is served)
Children’s Parties ( infants – 12 year olds): $800
- 4 hours (must include set-up and clean-up time in hours booked (add $200 if you wish STH to do entire clean-up and space re-set)
- Capacity: Up to 12 children plus up to 12 adults
- 1 STH Rep
- Add $200 for a professional STH artist/activity leader for 45 minute activity (Dance? Music? Theater? Yoga? Arts and Crafts? Performance?)
TEENAGE PARTIES & BAR MITZVAHS : $1,000
- 4 hours (includes set-up and clean-up time (add $200 if you wish STH to do entire clean-up and space re-set)
- Additional hours: $100/per hour
- Capacity: Up to 16 teens plus 4 – 8 parent monitors
- 2 STH Representatives
Self-Produced Visual Art Exhibits and Reception Space: $500
Spoke the Hub Provides
- Two week private exhibit space (when STH calendar permits) plus 2 hour opening (or closing) reception on a Friday or Saturday from 7-9:00pm
- ADA compliant foyer, rest room, kitchenette and apr. 36’ stretch of display wall in main ground floor studio (plus S hooks to hang work from)
- Mention of exhibit in STH’s monthly e-newsletter
- Display area for flyers/posters in studio and out on sidewalk
- Reception set-up (1-2 tables and tablecloths for food, drink and pricelist)
- 1 STH representative to lock/unlock the space, answer questions and monitor the door at the reception
- Access to gallery and arranging special appointments to view work
Artist is Responsible for
- Creating own graphics (must be approved by STH before printing or publishing online) and publicizing own event
- Hanging own show (from S hooks, must bring their own wire or fishing line and tools) and taking down show at end of exhibit
- Providing their own refreshments at the reception
- Donating 10% of any artwork sold back to Spoke the Hub
- Set-up and clean-up of studio
SPOKE THE HUB POLICIES:
All space rentals must be paid for in advance or booking is not confirmed– no exceptions.
For recurring, monthly bookings, a non-refundable month’s rental fee is required in advance to hold space and dates.
Advanced payment may be made via Cash, Check, Zelle or Paypal (with $2 service charge added.) Checks are payable to Spoke the Hub Dancing, Inc.
Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy: If rehearsal or one-shot booking(s) needs to be canceled, it must be done in writing at least 10 days in advance or rental fee is non-refundable.
If rehearsal or other reoccurring booking(s) need to be cancelled or rescheduled, please contact STH Space Manager at least 10 days in advance.
Renters will be allowed one courtesy change in their bookings, otherwise booking will be considered a cancellation and fee is non-refundable.
Only STH veteran teachers and returning space renters in good standing will receive their own key and studio door combos. A $35.00 refundable front door key deposit is required of all renters.
Keys must be picked up from and returned to Spoke the Hub Re:Creation Center, 748 Union Street (@ 6th Ave), Brooklyn at the end of the rental period.
Under no circumstances may keys be copied, shared or lent to another person without permission from Spoke the Hub
HOUSE RULES:
- All space rentals must be paid for in advance or booking is not confirmed – no exceptions.
- Children and adults with special needs cannot be left unattended in any studio or public part of the building and front courtyard at any time.
- No smoking or flammables in or around the building at any time.
- No storage is available for space users.
- Any furniture or equipment moved in studios or foyer must be returned to its original locations before exiting space and all trash and recyclables disposed of properly.
- Please alert STH immediately to any problems or issues you encounter when you enter the studio – were lights or sound equipment left on? Doors left open? Equipment and furniture in disarray?
- STH is not responsible for lost or stolen items left anywhere on premises.
- Failure to follow house rules makes space rental contract null and void and rental fees non-refundable.
- New space users will be greeted by a STH representative and given a brief studio tour and orientation. STH representative will only wait 15 minutes for latecomers and renter will not be entitled to a space refund if they are late for orientation.
