Help Wanted
Spoke the Hub Seeks New Office Manager, Admin. Assistants, and Interns
Spoke the Hub is currently seeking a number of administrative assistants to work in our office in the coming year. Ideally, we would like to barter for classes or rehearsal space to begin with, or come up with some combination of cash and barter compensation depending on skills, interest and experience. In some cases, we might also be able to extend the option of buying into our health care plan (through Brooklyn Healthworks) as well. Additionally, some of these part-time positions have the potential to grow into more permanent paid “positions” in the future if the fit is right. Are you interested in working here at the Hub? If so, what is your availability and what skills can you bring to our kitchen table? Please send letter of interest, your resume, and three current references to: spoke@spokethehub.org.
STH Office Manager
STH seeks smart, well-organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and user friendly individual with excellent writing, computer, and people skills, to run the administrative side of our school and office. Duties include working the front desk; supervising interns and other administrative staff; registering students; returning emails and phone calls; compiling our monthly e-newsletter; and coordinating artists, staff, performances and special events at both the STH Re:Creation Center, Gowanus Arts, and in the field. Basically, this individual would be responsible for the smooth operation of both Spoke the Hub’s facilities while serving as the administrative connective tissue between STH staff, student body, artists and the Artistic Director. Not for the faint of heart or those easily flappable by noise, kids or occasional mayhem, as ours is a very busy little beehive, animated by many active and creative children and adults of all ages. Hours and compensation to be arranged.
STH Arts Internships for High School and College Students
High school students, do you have community service hours you need to fill? College students, are you interested in a career in arts administration? STH is currently seeking high school and college students to work with us this coming year in our office, backstage, and front of house at our Gowanus loft theater and out on the street. Must be willing to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on experience running a small, not-for-profit, community arts organization. Students who live in the ‘hood, who can make a full school-year commitment on specific days, are preferred.
Photography, Video and Music Archivists Wanted
STH is also seeking several very detail oriented, well-organized, and technically inclined young people to help digitize STH’s massive 30+ years of photos, video and music, thanks to a grant from the Park Slope Civic Council and mentorship from NYC librarian/archivist Stephen Klein. Interested? Please contact: spoke@spokethehub.org
