When the Marriott was built next to STH’s Gowanus Arts Exchange, its developers damaged the wall of our arts center during construction and tried to silence the resident musicians.  STH fought back in unusual ways, by creating and performing a protest dance in front of the Marriott and launching a humorous mural contest to be painted on the side of the Gowanus facing the hotel’s guest windows.

Comics Gabe Pacheco and Amber Rollo curated this once-a-month comedy series featuring underexposed stand-up comedians, predominantly Brooklyn-based.

Always a creative bunch, teachers, staff, students and friends of STH joined forces to create and eclectic and unique weekend of Holiday crafts, baked goods, jewelry and art work for sale.

Two power-packed non-stop weekends of workshops, performances and special events helped raise the funds needed to purchase and install desperately needed  air conditioning units in the Gowanus Arts Exchange dance studios
