Spoke the Hub Presents Works on the Wall (WOW) JANET PEDERSEN Opening Reception: February 7th 7:00-9:00 pm Exhibit: February 1 – 28, 2025 Steps a collection of dance-themed paintings Janet Pedersen, a local painter better known for her landscape painting, got on a dancer jag not too long ago when she was seriously injured and confined to her bedroom. The result was a series of drawings and paintings of dancers that I find quite fresh, direct and immediate. I thought you might be interested in this exhibit too - and who knows? I thought she might be interested in meeting YOU! From reading her bio and interview, it sounds like she may have not yet worked with real, live, contemporary dancers in the flesh...hmmmm. Come for a glass of wine, check out Janet's work and chat with the artist. 'Enter/Exit' 30"x30" 2025 I’m so excited to be showing a collection of my dance-themed paintings at Spoke the Hub dance studio. Spoke The Hub is a dance and community arts organization founded in 1979 in Park Slope. The work will be up Feb 7-28, with an opening this Friday the 7th, from 7-9pm. Come celebrate the universal joy and borderless beauty of dance! 'Balance', 2021 4 years ago I had the privilege to be interviewed by Pam Wong (aka ArtHag, and director of 440gallery) and talked about the inspiration behind 'Step by Step' my dance themed solo show at 440Gallery. Here is the Interview.
David Barthold is multi-media artist at Gowanus Studio Space on 7th Street In the Gowanus. His work draws heavily from the architecture, signage, street art and industrial character of the area, as well as from popular culture and historical sources. A lifelong printmaker, Barthold often transposes print effects onto his sculptures, freely creating individual parts which are later assembled spontaneously into finished works.
