Works on the Wall (WOW) Exhibit Series
The Spoke the Hub Re: Creation Center’s ground floor, ADA compliant foyer and main studio invite local visual artists to exhibit their work as part of STH’s ongoing “Works on the Wall” (WOW) Exhibit Series, featuring the visual art work of local painters, photographers, printmakers and multi-media artists. Exhibit requests are reviewed throughout the year. Both wildly experimental, abstract, figurative, and traditional work is welcome by artists of all genres, ages, and stages of their careers. Exhibits generally run for 4-8 weeks and artists are welcome to hold their own two hour opening or closing reception in the space.

Winter Follies
“Winter Follies!” is an annual STH showcase marathon showcase which often features over 2 dozen performing artists presenting 5 minutes of whatever they do best. Artists may present a spanking new work-in-progress, something old and beloved from your vast performance repertory, or maybe even something improvisational?
At the end of each show, the audience elects the artist or group that they would like to see a whole evening production by and that “People’s Choice” artist receives 50 hours of free rehearsal space and a full weekend production in the WHEELHOUSE the following Fall.
WINTER FOLLIES: PEOPLE’S CHOICE & DIRECTOR’S CHOICE
In addition to WINTER FOLLIES: PEOPLE’S CHOICE winner, STH’s Artistic Director also selects 4-6 other WINTER FOLLIES artists or groups that did not carry the popular vote, but Long felt their work merits more attention and exposure. These artists choose to either share a concert with the other DIRECTOR’S CHOICE artists or they can elect to present a concert of their own work in the WHEELHOUSE. STH also selects artists from WINTER FOLLIES to perform in other STH productions and invites some to participate in the new STH DANCING Up the HUDSON residency and exchange program in historic Rhinecliff, New York.
CLASSES
Spoke the Hub has been offering all manner and levels of movement, fitness and arts classes for children and adults, infants through senior citizens, to the Brooklyn community for almost five decades. Although the school was formally closed during the pandemic, STH currently hosts classes taught by over a dozen independent teaching artists, many of whom are returning STH veteran instructors who have made STH their home teaching base. STH believes that in-person creative arts study, practice and contemplation opportunities not only improve one’s mental and physical health and strengthen social bonds, but also provides a deep and meaningful portal into understanding one’s self and the world we live in.
