FORMS OF REFINEMENT
CECILIA SCHMIDT
September 10 – October 14
748 Union Street @ 6th Avenue, Brooklyn
“These works are inspired by the natural ephemera that I gather in my neighborhood. The birds are found dead and then immediately frozen. I pick the flowers which mostly come from the trees where the live birds once lived. The birds and the flowers are transient and unstable– the flowers wilting, disintegrating and changing color, the birds thawing. Controlling this process of decay, I used these forms to construct sculptures for the camera that depend upon observation and the passage of time.”
